Parent Programs

About ParentTalk:

With messages highlighting the unrealistic “thin ideal” bombarding today’s youth, parents are faced with the challenge of how to combat the negative effects of media, peer pressure and other such influences.  While parents cannot be with their children every hour of every day, they can positively influence their children more than they think possible.  ParentTalk is a conversational workshop that addresses the challenges associated with raising children in a society obsessed with unattainable beauty and the “thin ideal.”  Through open discussion, parents will come away with a better understanding of the factors influencing their children’s self-esteem, and begin to know how to combat harmful messages and behaviors.  Our goal is to provide a safe environment which fosters open communication, raises awareness and fortifies resilient children.
