Eating for Life Alliance is a network that provides information on prevention efforts and eating disorder treatment for colleges and universities nationwide.

  • Bulimia Nervosa Guide – The web site provides in-depth information about the disorder, risk factors, diagnosis, treatment effectiveness, cost of care, and maximizing insurance benefits for care.

  • Something Fishy – Information and support for people with eating disorders and their families.
  • MySelfHelp.com – Interactive programs designed through grants from the National Institute of Mental Health to provide help and support to individuals suffering from eating disorders and other problems. To receive a 20% discount for on-line services use the code “ACTH”
  • EDIN – The Eating Disorders Information Network, committed to preventing eating disorders through outreach, education and action
  • Gurze Books – Specializes in eating disorder publications and education. Gurze Books offers high quality materials on understanding and overcoming eating disorders of all kinds.

National Treatment Centers

  • Remuda Ranch - A licensed, behavioral health hospital system that focuses specifically on eating disorders with co-occurring behavioral health illnesses.
  • Columbia Center for Eating Disorders  - The Eating Disorders Clinic is part of the New York State Psychiatric Institute, located at Columbia University Medical Center in New York.

National Organizations

  • National Eating Disorders Association Information on EDs
  • NEDA is dedicated to expanding public understanding of eating disorders and promoting access to quality treatment for those affected along with support for their families through education, advocacy and research.
  • Academy for Eating Disorders Information on EDs
  • Eating Disorders Coalition Advocacy and Lobbying
    EDC has focused attention on educating and working with Congress to effectively influence federal policy and advance the federal recognition of Eating Disorders as a public health priority.
  • ECRI Institute – A nonprofit health services research agency and a collaborating center of the World Health Organization.
  • Maudsley Parents – Information on the use of a family-based treatment known as the Maudsley approach.

 

Self-Esteem Workshops and Programs

  • A Chance to Heal offers body image and media literacy programs for youth, body image and eating disorder prevention workshops for those who work with youth, eating disorder prevention workshops for healthcare providers, and body image workshops for adults.
  • BodyImageHealth.org – Tools to build healthy body esteem and prevent body image, eating, fitness and weight problems before they start.
  • Girls Inc. – Programs for girls aged 6-18
  • Girls Rock Philly – Week long day camp for 10-18 year old girls.
  • Rosh Hodesh – It’s a Girl Thing – Jewish program for pre-teen and teen girls to strengthen self-esteem.

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters – Mentoring for boys and girls ages 6-18.
  • Future of Fatherhood (Formerly Dads & Daughters) – Information on progressive fathering, stepfathering, girls’ issues, and helping agencies and organizations better serve and use fathers.
  • Fat Talk Free Week - Delta Delta Delta and key partners are raising the nation’s consciousness about the dangers of ‘fat talk’ and the impact it has on women’s overall self-esteem and confidence.
