Board of Directors


David Steinman, Board Chair

David Steinman, MD, currently serves as the Chair of our Board of Directors. He is a psychiatrist in general private practice for 19 years. He has a particular interest in mood disorders, impaired professionals, eating disorders, and the interface between psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. David is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and teaches the residents and medical students.

David is married to Ruth, also a psychiatrist, and they have two children, Jacob and Eliana. In his spare time, he is a runner and triathlete.

 

Justin Chairman

Justin W. Chairman is a partner in Morgan Lewis’s Securities Practice. Justin focuses his practice on representing private and public companies on securities matters, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, contract, and general corporate matters. He earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1995 and his B.A. in history from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992. Justin lives in Wynnewood with his wife and two children.

 

Joanna Berwind Creamer

Joanna Creamer currently serves as Trustee and Director of the Berwind Group. Before being elected Vice Chairman of the Berwind Board in June of 2001, she was a Member of the Berwind Group Advisory Board which position she has held since September of 1996. Prior to her Board memberships, she has held various positions within the Berwind organization. In 1995, she was a member of Berwind’s Corporate Development Department in the position of Analyst; in 1993, she was employed in the Marketing Department of CRC Industries, Inc. working in both the Australian and US offices; and in 1994 she was employed as a Sales Associate for Sentrol, Inc. Before being employed in full time positions within Berwind, Ms. Berwind spent two summers at Berwind’s Colorcon Division in West Point, Pennsylvania. Prior to her tenure at Berwind, Ms. Berwind was in the Research Department of Scudder, Stevens and Clark. Ms. Berwind received a BA in English from Wesleyan University and her MBA from Villanova University.

 

Leigh Filippini

Leigh Filippini currently serves as a Principal Owner of Concord Management Group, International. Leigh’s natural leadership qualities have been consistently tested and demonstrated through the continued success of the company she founded in 1997. Concord Search Group began with a focus on providing the Philadelphia business community with top local talent, with a strong focus on technology, software, and data-communications. Although the Executive Search division still serves as a lucrative and viable component of the organization, Concord has evolved into an internationally respected Consulting and Project Management firm, specializing in the life science and biotech industries. Leigh’s, flexibility, business acumen, and vision have all contributed to the success of Concord, which was recently ranked by the Philadelphia Business Journal as the “Top Executive Search Firm” in the Mid-Atlantic region.

 

Jennifer Fox

Jennifer Dempsey Fox is a Senior Vice President and Senior Relationship Manager of Hawthorn, a member of The PNC Financial Services Group dedicated to serving the needs of individuals and families with investable assets in excess of $20 million. She is also responsible for managing the relationship management function in the Philadelphia and Delaware offices of Hawthorn which ensures the overall quality and consistency of the client experience.

Jennifer has over 18 years of experience in Wealth Management.  Prior to joining Hawthorn, Jennifer worked with J.P. Morgan’s Private Wealth Management Group and served as the Regional Director for Wachovia’s Wealth Management team in suburban Philadelphia, PA.  She has worked as a consultant to the Aresty Institute of Executive Education at The Wharton School and served as a Manager in the Financial Counseling Services division of the tax practice for Deloitte & Touche.

Jennifer’s community service includes serving on the board of A Chance to Heal and as a member of the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania 2011 Campaign Cabinet.  She is a member of the Finance Committee and is Chairperson of the Investment Committee for the Union League Club of Philadelphia.  She has served on the board of Settlement Music School and The Print Center and was co-Chair for the 2008 American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Campaign and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team.  Fox is also a member of the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council.

Jennifer earned a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Villanova University, a Juris Doctor from Temple University’s School of Law, where she received the Catherine Donahue Memorial Award for Estate Planning, and a Master of Business Administration from the Temple University Fox School of Business.  She is a Certified Financial Planner.

 

Craig Johnson

Craig Johnson is an executive with experience in staff and consulting work, line management, investment banker, and at the director level with a number of profit and not for profit organizations. Mr. Johnson has served on a number of boards during the last thirty years as: chairman, and member of executive, audit, finance, nominating, risk, long-range planning, and development committees. These boards comprise two public, four private and eight not for profit organizations. He has held management positions as CEO and COO in four of the for profit companies. Craig is active as a consultant on a project and retainer basis working on the following issues: marketing, compensation, organization, growth strategies, strategic planning, acquisitions, and CEO coaching. Mr. Johnson holds a BS and an MBA degree from the University of Pennsylvania,

Mr. Johnson serves on boards of directors for profit and non-profit organizations: The Philadelphia Contributionship (Insurance); Vector Security, Inc;, President. Has served on boards of various startup companies on other civic boards: The Academy of Natural Sciences, Chestnut Hill Hospital, Cathedral Village (Retirement), Green Tree Hill Health Care Foundation (President), Springside School, Chilean and American Chamber of Commerce, Need-In-Deed (Community services), Delaware River Port Authority.  Has been active in alumni work at the University of Pennsylvania and member of civic group, Committee of Seventy.

 

Maryellen Lamb

Maryellen Reilly Lamb is a Senior Associate Director at The Wharton School’s office of MBA Career Management, advising students interested in careers in investment banking, sales and trading, and diversified financial services. Maryellen began her career as a buyside currency trader, in both London and New York, working for firms including Commodities Corporation and Capital Group.

Maryellen sits on the investment committee of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania and is a member of the Forum of Executive Women. Maryellen received her BA in Communications from the University of Scranton. She serves on the board of the Forum of Exec Women and she lives in Chestnut Hill with her husband Bill and their two daughters and a son.

 

Jennifer Miles

Jennifer is the Executive Director of the Miles Family Foundation. The Miles Family is dedicated to fostering social improvement through education, Entrepreneurship, Community Development and Research in Chester, Delaware and Philadelphia Counties.

Through Jennifer’s guidance the Miles Family Foundation is a proud supporter of A Chance to Heal, of the Inside Outside Self-Discovery Program, an eating disorder prevention program for middle and upper school girls and KIDS SMILES, a non-profit dental clinic in Philadelphia.

The Miles Family Foundation is a national and regional sponsor of the KIPP Charter School. Jennifer is a board member for the Philadelphia KIPP Charter School, where she further advocates the mission of the foundation for KIPP students.

Before entering the non-profit world, Jennifer taught for ten years at a variety of age levels. She currently resides in St. Davids, Pennsylvania with her husband and their son.

 

Ivy Silver

Ivy is the Regional Vice President of Gallagher Benefit Services, an employee benefit planning, delivery and administration service. Ivy is the cofounder of A Chance to Heal Foundation. She currently serves on the Abington Memorial Hospital Board, The Foundation of The Forum of Executive Women, the Advisory Board of Fulton Bank Corporation and is past Board Chair of The Abington Art Center and The Photo Review. As the 2006 Women’s Way Leadership Award winner Ivy has been recognized for her extensive contributions to commerce and community including Pennsylvania’s Top 50 Business women.
